ADDIE Model
Analysis What do your students need to learn?  What are your learners' characteristics?  Determining these first will help you to create more effective instruction.
Design How will you present the instructional material (instructional strategies)?  How will students interact with the material to construct a meaningful understanding?
Development When developing learning activities and assessments, alignment is key.  Gagne's Events of Instruction is a popular model that helps in developing effective instruction.
Implementation Once your instruction is complete, it is ready to implement.
Evaluation How effective is your course?  An effective design is iterative and should be continuously evaluated.  Creating anonymous surveys in Qualtrics is one way to obtain formative feedback. This feedback will help determine what design modifications may improve student learning.
