PNC Faculty Member Earns Distinguished Research Award

Westville – Dr. Tantatape Brahmasrene, professor of Business at Purdue University North Central, recently co-authored the article, “Recent Evidence of Small Business Development in CIS Transition Economies” that earned the Distinguished Research Award at the Allied Academies International Conference. The paper will be published in the International Journal of Entrepreneurship, a refereed journal.

Co-authors are Jung Wan Lee of Kazakh British Technical University and Simon Tai of Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research. The three met at the International Management Development Association (IMDA) for the first time at the 15th World Business Congress of IMDA held in Sarajevo in 2006. In the summer of 2007, Brahmasrene was unexpectedly reunited with these IMDA members when he traveled to Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University in Kazakhstan when he was selected for participation in the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program. All three worked on a research project in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

 Brahmasrene has taught courses in finance, international business and economics at PNC. He earned the designation of a 2001 J. William Fulbright Senior Scholar, a 2003 Fulbright Senior Specialist (Thailand) and a 2007 Fulbright Senior Specialists at the Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University.

He was awarded the 2004 George C. Roberts Outstanding Paper Award from the Indiana Academy of the Social Sciences; the Outstanding Educator Award from the Academy of Educational Leadership; the 2001 and 2003 Distinguished Research Award from the Academy of Studies in International Business; a Sasakawa Fellowship from the Nippon Foundation; the Foundation for Economic Education Scholarship; Purdue Research Foundation International Travel Grants 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008; a Purdue University Summer Faculty Grant, the Prochnow Educational Foundation Scholarship and the PNC Outstanding Teacher Award 1997 - 1998. He was an editor of “Managerial Finance” special issues in 2003 and 2004, he authors the publication, “Econtrends” and has published about 30 articles in various refereed journals.

He has a B.S. from Kasetsart University , an M.S. from Indiana State University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati . He is a certified financial planner and chartered financial consultant. #
