PNC Alternative Spring Break "Service Road Trip" Opportunity
Purdue University North Central Center for Service Learning & Leadership is offering students and community the opportunity to participate in an Alternative Spring Break "Service Road Trip" from March 8 to 12. PNC Alternative Spring Break "Service Road Trip" Volunteers will be eligible to earn a free pass into a Disney theme park for their efforts.
Volunteer opportunities will be available at designated agencies throughout the area that week, including:
Monday – Wheatfield at Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church Food Pantry from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will clean pantry shelves.
Tuesday -- Valparaiso at Spring Valley Center from 9 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Volunteers will do general cleaning and painting.
Wednesday – Michigan City at Sandcastle Shelter 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The volunteers will be doing general cleaning.
Thursday – LaPorte at LaPorte Salvation Army 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The volunteers will help with a food drive.
Friday – Westville at the Westville Food Pantry 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will clean pantry shelves.
Activities on Friday will continue at PNC in the Library-Student-Faculty Building, Room 02 from 12:30 to
4 p.m. with a reflection/celebration session. Sandwiches and water will be available for the volunteers to enjoy, donated by Family Express. Other donations were made by WiseWay Foods and Sheree Warnke State Farm Insurance. Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets donated vouchers for a free coupon book.
The “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” program allows PNC students, faculty, staff and community members volunteering for these PNC – led projects to earn a one-day, one-theme park ticket to the Disneyland® Resort or Walt Disney World® Resort, free. Disney's offer is intended to inspire volunteerism.
Those interested in earning the “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” pass, should go to www.nwivolunteer.org to sign up for a PNC project. The Alternative Spring Break "Service Road Trip" is titled Alternative Spring Break.
Then visit www.DisneyParks.com to sign up and search for opportunities by zipcode. The zipcode for Westville , Indiana is 46391. Volunteers must remember to register at the Disney Parks website in order to receive the “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” voucher.
Once the volunteer assignment is completed, the Center for Service Learning & Leadership will verify the applicant's attendance and the applicant will be able to print a certificate online and redeem at a Disney Park .
If the volunteer is under 18 they must perform the volunteer opportunity with a parent or guardian and the parent or guardian will receive the pass. No one under age 6 qualifies for this promotion.
One pass is issued per promotion, regardless of how many times the individual or family volunteers.
