PNC, Partners Presents Jewish Film Festival

WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series, with the Michigan City Public Library and the Irving Levin Jewish Cultural Fund of Sinai Temple, will present a Jewish Film Festival on Sunday, April 7 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Michigan City Public Library, 100 E. 4th St., Michigan City. The film festival is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be enjoyed during a coffee klatch and cake break.

The films feature differing topics that look at various aspects of life from three very different perspectives – that of an 88-year-old man, a 13-year-old boy and a very startled Muslim who discovers he was born a Jew.
“B-Boy” is a 15 minute film about Eli, a typical Bar Mitzvah boy. But once he is put on the competitive breakdance floor, he's E-Break, part of nationally recognized breakdancing crew. This was winner of the short film competition at the Boston Jewish Film Festival.

“Music Man Murray” presents a 22 minute film that tells the story of Murray Gershenz, who at age 88 figures it's time to sell his L.A. record store, filled with a half-million records. This also won at the Boston Jewish Film Festival.

“The Infidel” is rated R for strong language. This film depicts a devoted Muslim family man who experiences a severe identity crisis after discovering he was adopted at birth and that his real name is Solly Shimshillewitz. Hilarity ensues. The film runs 1 hour, 45 minutes and stars Omid Djalili and features Richard Schiff of "West Wing" and Archie Panjabi of “The Good Wife."
