PNC Hosts Visit by First Lady of Indiana
Westville – Purdue University North Central will host a visit by Cheri Daniels, First Lady of Indiana, on March 24 at 4 p.m. in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02, as she speaks to women about heart disease. The program is free and open to the public.
Daniels is traveling the state presenting this educational program called Heart to Heart. She is encouraging women to make simple lifestyle changes to help prevent serious threat to their health. The program is designed to inform women about the basics of preventing heart disease with a section highlighting campus and community resources designed to help individuals live healthier lives.
She notes that heart disease is the number-one killer in our nation and state, and each year kills more women than men. Attendees will be able to take advantage of free heart-health screenings before and after the program, as well as browse a collection of local resources. Screenings will begin at 3 p.m.
The program will include information about leading a heart-healthy life from a nurse practitioner, as well as an address from Dr. Marne Juestel, PNC assistant professor of Nursing, regarding new research about women and heart disease.
