PNC Students Plan Habitat for Humanity Trip
WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central students in the Dean’s Leadership Group are planning a trip to Appalachia to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity during the week of May 12 through 18. All PNC students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to volunteer. At least 10 volunteers are needed to make the trip possible.
The group will travel to the Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity, nestled in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia, where they will help with various Habitat and community projects in Pendleton County. Previous construction knowledge or experience are not necessary.
The Dean’s Leadership Group students are raising money to help offset the cost of the trip. It is anticipated that each volunteer will need to contribute about $150 each of cover their transportation there and back, all food, housing and program fees. However, that amount may change depending on the amount of the donations received.
PNC students previously made several trips to Louisiana aid with Habitat for Humanity in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The students involved with those trips admitted that was a life-changing experience for them.
To obtain further information about the trip, to volunteer or to make a donation, contact Keri Marrs Barron, PNC director of Student Activities at firstname.lastname@example.org or Rebecca Tucker, PNC student coordinator for the trip at email@example.com. Donations by check can be made payable to Purdue North Central, with the notation ”HFH” in the memo line and mailed to Keri Marrs Baron, Purdue University North Central, 1401 S. U.S. 421, Westville, Ind., 46391.
