PNC Hosts Speaker Dr. Marc Becker
Westville – Purdue University North Central will host Dr. Marc Becker, associate professor of Latin American History at Truman State University near St. Louis Mo., who will spend Dec. 3 on campus for two presentations on various aspects of his work.
Becker will present an open forum at noon in Technology Building Room 190A to present the topic, "From Social Movements to Political Participation: Ecuador's Indigenous Rights Movement(s) and Lessons for the World," a discussion of the challenges that social movements face when they opt to join the political process.
This presentation is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Becker will visit the the Indigenous Heritage of Latin America (Hist401) class taught by Dr. Kenneth Kincaid, assistant professor of Latin American History at 2:30 where he will discuss his book “Pachakutik! Indigenous Movements and Electoral Politics in Ecuador.”
