PNC Hosts Social Sciences Colloquium

Westville – Purdue University North Central will present a Social Sciences Colloquium with Dr. Michael Lynn, department chair and professor of History, speaking on “Spontaneous Human Combustion" on Nov. 15, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02. The event is free and open to the public.

Lynn will discuss 18th century France and the wave of apparent cases of spontaneous human combustion which captured people's attention and demanded an explanation. He will explore how scholars have tried to develop explanations for this event and the relationship between superstition and rationality during the Age of Enlightenment.
