PNC Odyssey Presents “Pixel Mixel” by Carol Block
WESTVILLE – The Purdue University North Central 2010 -11 Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series will present the exhibit “Pixel Mixel” by Carol Block , from Jan. 10 to May 20 in the Library-Student-Faculty Building student lounge, Room 062 in the building's lower level. The exhibit is f ree and open to the public.
Building hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Library-Student-Faculty Building is closed on Sundays.
Pixel Mixel will feature what Block refers to as photo-hybrids. Others know this technology as digi-altered photo paintings. Block explains this art as, “Where bytes meet brushes and filters, where nu-photo and hand painting collide.”
Block owns Studio #7 at 722 Franklin St., Michigan City. She is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the IIT Institute of Design in Chicago. She also attended the City College in Chicago to become literate in computer imaging.
She is a veteran of Artemisia Gallery in Chicago and Phoenix Gallery, Soho 20 and Gallery 128 in New York City. More recently she has had shows with the Area Artists Association and the Southern Shore Art Association in Indiana and varied juried and invitational exhibits .
