PNC Hosts LaPorte, Elkhart and Lake County Schools at
Academic Super Bowl Open Invitational
WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central will host four area high school teams as they compete in the LaPorte County Academic Super Bowl Open Invitational on Thursday, March 4 in the Library-Student-Faculty Assembly Hall, Room 02, located on the PNC Westville campus. Registration begins at 3:45 p.m. Central Time. The event is free and open to the public.
Participating schools are: LaPorte High School, LaCrosse High School, Elkhart Christian Academy and River Forest High School.
The 2010 competition theme is “2010 "An American Generation: 1964 – 1980." Students will compete in six subject areas - English, science, fine arts, social studies, math and interdisciplinary. Trophies will be given to the winning school in each subject area as well as an overall winner. Each competing student, coach, proctor and student assistant will receive a voucher for use at the PNC Gallery Café and Coffee Central. The café, Coffee Central and the PNC bookstore will be open. There is a coaches and proctors meeting at 4 p.m. and the welcoming comments will at 4:30 p.m.

4:40 p.m. - Social Studies, Dr. S. Rex Morrow, Dean, College of Liberal Arts
5:20 p.m. – Mathematics, Dr. Dave Feikes, associate professor of Mathematics
6:00 p.m. – English, Dr. Sarah White, visiting assistant professor of English Composition
6:40 p.m. - Science, Dr. Jason Curtis, associate professor of Biology
7:20 p.m. – Fine Arts, Judy Jacobi, PNC assistant vice chancellor of Marketing and Community Relations
8:00 p.m. - Interdisciplinary, Dr. Mark Jacobi , Michigan City pediatrician
8:40 p.m. - Awards, Lawrence Barrett, vice chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Services
Super Bowl competition in Indiana is part of the Indiana Association of School Principals, Department of Student Programs. It is a unique inter-scholastic academic competition which allows Indiana 's senior high, junior, middle and elementary school students an opportunity to compete in academics similar to the way youth compete in athletics. These competitions recognize, reward and celebrate scholars.
