PNC Appoints Adjunct Biology Faculty Members

Westville – Purdue University North Central has welcomed new adjunct Biology faculty members for the 2008 – 2009 academic year. An adjunct faculty member is granted the same academic privileges as a regular faculty member. They may be assigned teaching responsibilities or participate in a joint or cooperative project with Purdue University without pay.
The adjunct assistant professors of Biology are:
Daniel H. Mason . He is working on his post-doctoral research at the Florida Center for Environmental Studies, Florida Atlantic University . He earned a Ph.D. in Botany from Iowa State University and master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Maryland . He serves as the chief botanist for the National Park Service at the Indiana Dunes.
Joy E. Marburger. She earned her Ph.D. in Plant Sciences from the University of Maryland and holds a master's degree from Bowling Green State University , Ohio and a bachelor's degree from Allegheny College , Pennsylvania . She is a research coordinator for the National Park Service at the Indiana Dunes.
. Murulee Byappanahalli . He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and master's degree from the University of Hawaii . He also holds master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Agricultural Sciences , India . He is a research microbiologist at Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station at the Indiana Dunes.
Noel B. Pavlovic. He has his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois , Chicago and a Graduate Diploma from the Australian National University . He earned a master's degree from University of Tennessee and a bachelor's degree from Earlham College , Richmond , Ind. He is a research ecologist at the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station at the Indiana Dunes.
Ralph Grundel. He earned a post-doctoral degree in Molecular Biology from the University of California . He has a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Texas and a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University . He is a research ecologist at the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station at the Indiana Dunes.
Richard Whitman. He holds a Ph.D. from Texas A&M and master's and bachelor's degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas . He is the supervisor of the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station at the Indiana Dunes.
Appointed as adjunct professor of Biology is:
Tom N. Galouzis . He earned a Bachelor's degree from Ohio State University , an Osteopathic degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and an M.D. with honors from Pritzker School of Medicine, Chicago . He previously taught general surgery at Pritzker and earned a Golden Apple Teaching award. He is a general surgeon. His practices include Indiana Surgical Associates, Lake Park Surgicare, LLC, Hobart , Indiana , and Health Partners, Michigan City , Indiana .
